Yvonne Racz Key, Artistic Director

Yvonne Racz‘s combination of professional and academic experience makes her an accomplished teacher and choreographer. During her tenure as Artistic Director, Ballet Lubbock has received generous grants based upon the growth and reputation of the school and artistic merit of Ballet Lubbock’s performing Dance Company.  Her students have been accepted with scholarships to international top ranked Summer programs across the country. As well, she counts former students who ae now professional dancers and teachers. She has been recognized in publications such as VOGUE, TIME, and Southern Living.  A review by Dance Magazine quotes:  “Yvonne Racz…with legs and arms as fluid as a Kirov Swan as well as a poignancy that is emotionally wrenching.

She has taught adjunct with Texas Tech University (TTU) and taught in workshops and master classes internationally. She has directed and choreographed musical theatre productions for TTU and Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and is a member of the Corps De Ballet International.  Awards include: The Arts Alliance Dynamic Force ACE award, the 2011 YWCA’s Woman of Excellence in Culture, listed in the Avalanche Journal as one of Lubbock’s 100 most influential persons and was appointed by the Texas Commission on the Arts as a grant evaluator for the Young Masters Program Dance Panel.

Yvonne began her dance training with the Syracuse Ballet Theater in Syracuse, New York.  She continued her training with Lubbock Civic Ballet under the direction of Suzanne Aker and Neil Hess after moving to Lubbock. She studied with Lubbock Civic Ballet under the direction of Leonid Lubarsky, former principal dancer with the Kirov Ballet. Ms. Racz attended the University of Utah where she graduated with a BA in Humanities.  At the university, she performed with the Utah Ballet Co. under the direction of Conrad Ludlow, former principal dancer with New York City Ballet.  She also trained under Barbie Hamblin, Bene Arnold, Li-Chou Cheng, and Attila Ficzre.

She has worked extensively with renowned New York City teacher/choreographer Daniel Catanach and toured South Korea as a guest artist in his company in the International Dance Festival. She has performed internationally with professional dance companies and choreographers including Maryland Ballet Company, Desrosiers Dance Theatre, Ballet Hispanico of New York, and the famed Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas.
