Director of Community Outreach
Marcos Antonio Vasquez, born in a small neighborhood in Los Angeles, was first introduced to the performing arts at age 9 in his elementary school’s FAME program. At 15, he joined his high school’s color guard and began formal dance training. Mr. Vasquez continued studying modern dance, ballet, and jazz at Mt. San Antonio College under Amy Nakamura and Michelle Shear, and has attended the Perry-Mansfield Summer Intensive, Ririe-Woodbury Intensive, Ballet Lubbock Summer Workshop, and the Alvin Ailey Horton teacher workshop with Ana-Marie Forsythe.
Upon moving to Texas, Marcos began further study of ballet with the Ballet Lubbock Company under Yvonne Racz Key and Tamorah Tobin, and has performed in Nutcracker’s for Pampa Civic Ballet, Dali Ballet Company, and Ballet Lubbock.
Marcos’s performance credits also include the Cactus Theatre’s production of All Shook Up!, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals’s CATS & Peter Pan, and works by John Pennington, Yvonne Racz Key, Edward Truitt, Nyiki Swain, Darrell Jones and Elizabeth Gillaspy. Mr. Vasquez’s choreography work has been featured on the Dali Ballet Company and this coming Ballet Lubbock spring production, CLICK.
As Ballet Lubbock’s Director of Community Outreach, Marcos brings ballet education to students across the Lubbock community and takes part in Covenant Children’s Hospital’s Tutu Tuesdays.
