Take a spot at the barre, wherever you are!
We’ve gathered some of our favorite resources from Ballet Lubbock staff and ballet companies around the world to aid in your transition to your home studio. Take a look at the tips for taking class at home and please stick to resources in your current level! We want to see you healthy and strong when classes resume!

TIPS FOR TAKING CLASS AT HOME
- Use a stable barre of some type that allows you to do your left and right sides. We recommend using the back of a sturdy dining room chair.
- Make sure you have plenty of leg room. You’ll need at least a 3ft space around your feet and in the space from your head to the ceiling.
- Take class on a non-slip surface. Carpet is fine for barre work.
- Wear your ballet shoes! Don’t lose the feel of your feet in them.
- Please keep yourself safe. No jumping on tile or hard surfaces and no turns since the risk of injury is too great.
- Make sure your space is free of pets or siblings who may running through your legs accidentally!
- Make sure you bring your positive attitude and a smile!
- Pointe work should only be done by students in Levels 7- Company. Only simple relevés and relevé combinations. No jumps, no pirouettes.
- Levels 4 and up: Cross-training is important! All dancers should know the strength exercises Miss Tamorah has provided and should do them every day! (Core work, inner thigh work for turnout, thigh strength, plank, and flexibility)
